How to manage inventory by chatting with Claude

6 min read

What if checking stock or recording a delivery was as easy as sending a message? Simple Inventory Management ships with a built-in MCP server, so you can connect Claude and manage your inventory in plain language — no dashboards to dig through.

How the connection works

Claude talks to your account through a secure, OAuth-protected endpoint. You authorize it once, pick which company it can act on, and from then on Claude can read and update that company’s stock on your behalf. There are no API keys to copy or leak, and you can revoke access anytime. Full steps are in the Connect Claude guide.

What you can do in a conversation

  • Check levels: “How many M4 bolts do we have across all locations?”
  • Record changes: “Add 24 to the blue enclosures and tell me the new total.”
  • Spot problems: “What’s below its warning level right now?”
  • Plan: “Draft a reorder list for everything critically low.”

Why it’s safer than it sounds

Every action runs as you, scoped to the single company you authorized — Claude can’t reach anything you can’t. Read more on the security page.

Getting started

Create an account, add a few items, then add the connector in Claude using your MCP URL. You’ll be chatting with your real stock in a couple of minutes.
